A dream come true for hybridizers who struggle with poor plant habits and low bud counts, BELIEVE IN MONSTERS will likely fix the flaws in your “latest fad” seedlings. This outstanding plant from BRING ON THE BEEF selfed has whopping 41 to 43” scapes with 7 widely-spaced branches that display blooms perfectly. It also reblooms with slightly shorter 31 to 41” scapes that have 4-way branching and 19 buds for a bouquet-like presentation and a long bloom season starting in the mid season.
Nine-inch cream and peach polychrome blooms are diamond dusted all over including the yellow throat. Sepals have stippled dark rose pink edges, consistently giving a striped effect. Rebloom scapes have larger 10” blooms that open wide and flat with pretty pie crust ruffles. Occasionally displays “color breaks” making it ideal for crossing with broken color patterns. What else? Well, it has hardy dormant foliage and it’s fragrant, too! And it’s easily fertile both ways, especially on rebloom. Very limited. Collection orders always take priority. Tetraploid.
BIG HEARTS is an 8” cascade-spatulate UF on tall 41” scapes with 4-way branching that average 23 buds. It also reblooms with larger flowers producing a long bloom season. Blooms are a dark rose purple with a pink watermark and a wide chartreuse throat that are displayed perfectly. Fertile both ways. From two seedlings (LOUD GIRLS X WALT LOWRY) X (CONFESSIONS OF A HEMAHOLIC X WEBSTER GIRLS). BIG HEARTS blooms in the mid to late season and makes a stellar “can’t miss” clump. Hardy, dormant plant habit. Tetraploid.
BORN RICH (Davisson-J., 2026) is a 7” rich red with a white chalky watermark and fine white edges. It wraps up the season by blooming late. Blooms are perfectly displayed on 28” scapes with 4- and 5-way branching averaging 16 blooms per scape. From two seedlings: ((SWALLOWTAIL KITE X ORANGE CLOWN) X UNKNOWN)) X ((LOUD GIRLS X HEAVENLY UNITED WE STAND) X REGINA SITKO)). BORN RICH is fertile both ways with hardy, dormant plant habit. Tetraploid
DENNIS is a recurved 8” purple with a dusky purple watermark and a wide chartreuse throat from THE SENATOR X DAVI’S GIFT. Scapes are 32” with 4 to 6 branches averaging 25 buds that begins blooming in the early midseason. Fragrant and easily fertile both ways with lush, blue green foliage that is dormant and hardy. Outstanding in a clump of perfectly displayed rounded blooms that have heavy substance. Limited. Collection orders always take priority. Tetraploid.
Another great plant! GROWING UP LUCKY has monstrous 10” cream-peach crispate blooms with wide diamond-dusted green throats and serrated petal tips. Tall 46” scapes have ideal 5-way branching averaging 26 buds and it reblooms with slightly shorter scapes that carry an additional 12 buds. This showy mid to late season bloomer displays a bouquet of blooms every day for weeks that open perfectly despite their size. From a cross of (CAROLINA CARNIVAL X MEAN GREEN) X CORAL CONNECTION! Fertile both ways with beautiful and hardy dormant foliage. Tetraploid.
HEAT ADVISORY is a bud-building 8” orange crispate with a neon tangerine watermark. It begins in the mid season and as the weather heats up, the sepals twist and curl and its unusual form features become more pronounced. Stately scapes are 35” with 4-way branching, 17 to 19 buds. From a cross of TANGERINE TAMALE X CLEMSON GIRLS, it has flawless, dormant foliage. A hot, vibrant color that commands your attention! Fertile both ways but reluctant to pod in hot weather. Increases quickly. Tetraploid.
My favorite early season bloomer, INDIANA GIRLS is a rich, raspberry red crispate with a lighter raspberry watermark from a cross of two of my most popular introductions: TEAM PINK X GO BIG OR GO HOME. Ideal 36” scapes have widely spaced 4- and 5-way branching the display the 10” blooms perfectly. Scapes average 25 buds for a long, showy season lasting well into the mid to late season. Fertile both ways with flawless, dormant foliage. Outstanding! Tetraploid.
MARIAVILLE is a bud building 8” pink crispate with a light pink watermark and a diamond-dusted yellow throat. Scapes are tall at 39 to 40” with 4 to 6 branches and 38 to 52 buds (yes, 52!!!!). Begins blooming in the mid season. It’s fertile both ways but not easy to pod on hot days. Dormant foliage is flawless and survived living in Maine so it has to be hardy! Clumps up quickly for a spectacular display that goes on and on. Tetraploid.
MARIAVILLE (pronounced MARIAH-VILLE) is home to Maine hybridizer, Rob Laffin, who likes tall, well-branched daylilies with bold colors and hardy plant habits. Rob gave me this seedling several years ago saying he doesn’t like pastel colors but thought I might want to make a few crosses with my related lines because of its parentage: AL’S PEACH TOWER X ((JOE THE PLUMBER X (DANGLING PARTICIPLE X ARABELLA PEARL)). The Todd introduction ARABELLA PEARL is a cross of WHITE EYES PINK DRAGON X my own HIGH WATERMARK so I have lots of related seedlings growing in my garden in addition to my introduction of the Goldner daylily, AL’S PEACH TOWER. Thanks, Rob, for letting me add this beauty to my spring lineup!
